Our team has been hard at work, and we are excited to announce version 1.3.0 of Red5 Pro. For this release we focused on one of the most requested features, a new REST based API for the server.

This new API allows any app to access all the stats from the server, manipulate live streams, invoke custom methods, and do much of what’s possible when writing your own custom Red5 application.

Stay tuned for some serious enhancements to the API in an upcoming release featuring a new WebSocket based approach. We will also be releasing some SDK updates next month as well.

The new REST API was our focus, but we also managed to add quite a few server side bug fixes as well. To get the new release, go to the accounts page, login and download the new server build.

What do you think of the new API? Is there anything we should add to make your life as a streaming developer easier? Just let us know.

Happy coding!
